In Chile’s Patagonia region, you can experience majestic fiords and witness some of the world's largest glaciers outside the Polar Regions. A fantastic way to see some of this beautiful and rarely visited section of the world, while on this journey aboard the Skorpios III, you can also go on land excursions to view the region’s wildlife up close. This 4-day/3-night cruise covers 380 miles in a magical encounter with the age-old ice formations of the Chilean Patagonia. The M/V Skorpios III sails from the Skorpios Terminal in Puerto Natales, a town located 2,500 km south of Santiago, which can be reached by air from Punta Arenas or by land from Argentina. The ship then heads out for the Southern Ice Fields, which includes most of the glaciers in the area, namely the Amalia, El Brujo, Bernal and the Herman glaciers, and those located in the area of the Fiordo Calvo fiord. Experiencing around 15 glaciers in all, some of these will be contemplated and admired directly, as you will have chances to walk up to their fronts and their moraines, in addition to sailing through multi-colored ice floes while in smaller expedition vessels. All of this will allow you a chance to observe the varied Patagonian plant life, animal life and striking landscapes in their finest of glory.

PM: Starting at 16:00 hrs, passengers can begin boarding the ship. At 17:15, a shipboard safety briefing will be held (exact location to be provided). Then, between 17:30 and 18:00, we will set sail from Puerto Natales, cruising the Patagonian channels of Angostura Kirke, Morla Vicuña, Unión Collingwood and Sarmiento.
AM: This morning we will reach the Amalia Glacier. As the ship approaches the glacier, you will have a panoramic view of it from the ship. At around 9:30 hrs, we will disembark on a nearby beach, trekking through the vegetation and across rocks until reaching a lookout point from where we can observe this astounding glacier. At 11:30 hrs, we will sail for the El Brujo Glacier
PM: We will reach the El Brujo Glacier at 14:00 hrs (weather permitting), at which time passengers will be able to leave the ship to contemplate this glacier up close from a large stone viewing platform. At 15:30 hrs, we will then sail for the spectacular Fiordo de Calvo (fiord), and at 17:10 hrs set anchor there. We will then take a special boat named the “Capitán Constantino,” which will allow us to sail among the icebergs to visit the Fernando, Capitán Constantino, Alipio and other glaciers. At 20:00 hrs, we will sail to the Fiordo de Las Montañas (fiord).
AM: This morning we will continue sailing the Fiordio de las Montañas fiord, where you can sight four glaciers inching their way down from the Cordillera Sarmiento mountain range to the sea. At 9:30 hrs we will visit to the Alsina Glacier, boarding the ship’s special exploration boats to sail through the small bay to this beautiful glacier. You will be able to appreciate its beauty and the huge mountains that surround this glacier. At 10:30 hrs we will return to Skorpios III to continue sailing along the Fiordo de Las Montañas fiord to the Bernal Glacier, which we will visit at 11:15 hrs. At this time, we will trek through a small rainforest and then take a path that leads to a small glacier and water-filled lagoon. We will continue walking on the front and lateral moraines until we reach the front of the glacier. At this point you will be able to touch some of its ice, as well as witness the contraction of the glacier, which no longer flows into the sea.
PM: At 12:45 hrs, passengers will return to the ship as it loads pure crystalline water from a waterfall; this is the water used on board the ship. At 14:00 hrs, the ship will take us to the farther into the Fiordo de Las Montañas, where we will be able to see the Herman and Zamudio Glaciers. At 17.45 hrs, we will reach the Angostura White channel, where we debark on exploration crafts, and then go on shore to observe the native wildlife. At 19:30 we return to the ship, and get ready for the captain’s dinner at 21:00. At this farewell party, there will be plenty of food and dancing, as the ship sails along a sound named the Golfo Almirante Montt.
AM: We will arrive back in Puerto Natales between 2:00 and 7:00 hrs, depending on wind conditions, to berth at the dock in that city sometime between 8:00 and 9:30 hrs. Passengers will then disembark …with the memories of their amazing Patagonia experience fresh in their minds.
