Here are just some of the places you can go to on your custom trip to Bolivia:

La Paz

How cool would it be if your bespoke travel adventure included a stop in the highest capital city in the world? Hovering above Bolivia at 13,400 feet, La Paz is a bustling metropolis surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Perfect for a family outing, there’s plenty to see and do in the capital of Bolivia. Spend your days wandering through neighborhood-wide markets (there’s even a witch market!), riding bikes down “the World’s Most Dangerous Road,” or touring elaborate churches and the Presidential Palace. Always end your days with a delicious meal, whether you want local South American cuisine or really great Indian food, and for the adults in your group, a good glass of wine.

Perched on a hill in the Yunga Valley, just a few hours outside of La Paz, Coroico is a cozy town where travelers go to relax. Set amongst a backdrop of lush jungles, endless orange and banana groves, and condors circling overhead, Coroico is a perfect stop on the itinerary—especially if you have little ones. With all the travel you’re doing, it’s always good to find a destination where they can relax and reset for a day or two.

The Pampas

If you’re organizing bespoke travel to Bolivia, you have to go to the Pampas: the part of the Amazon jungle that crosses the Bolivian border. Base yourself in Rurrenabaque, where tours of the Pampas start, and get ready to see wildlife communities like you’ve never seen before. Hidden deep in the Amazon, it’s here that you’ll canoe down rivers to see hundreds of alligators, crocodiles, turtles, monkeys, pink dolphins, capybaras, birds and even anacondas. If you have older children, you may even opt to add a little more adventure into your trip, like piranha fishing, swimming with the dolphins or hiking through the jungle.

You’ve likely heard the song. But have you been to the charming little town that the song was about? Straddling the border between Peru and Bolivia, on the edge of Lake Titicaca, this coveted corner of the world is filled with hiking trails, kayaking, snow-capped mountains and paddleboarding. But at the center of it all, the real draw is the lake! Hop in a boat and take the kids to one of the islands in the middle. The views you’ll find from that vantage point will be simply unforgettable.

Salar de Uyuni

We can’t talk about bespoke travel to Bolivia without bringing up its famous salt flats: Salar de Uyuni. To get there, you’ll drive through otherworldly landscapes, red and green lagoons, flocks of pale pink flamingos, geysers, volcanoes, strange rock formations and more. The perfect introduction to what’s to come, it’s only after that that you’ll see the flats. Stretching as far as the eye can see, these all-white salt flats are the highest and largest flats in the world—and they’re a natural wonder that you (and the whole family) need to see for
